Electrical Engineer

we are looking for our corporate office in Troy

 

Essential Functions/Duties

  • Understand customer specifications, define the requirements, and work with the suppliers to engineer modular solutions for one or more of the following:
    • Actuators / Electronic Controllers
    • High Voltage Battery Pack Charging Systems, including Inductive and Conductive Charging solutions
    • High Voltage Battery Pack Systems
    • Battery Management Systems
    • Power Distribution Units
    • Decorative lighting Systems
  • Master and define the specifications for the targeted products/ modules.  Act as the subject matter expert for the modules outlined above in front of the customer and suppliers
  • Engage with suppliers, labs, and customers as needed, to understand market and technology trends in the electric vehicle ecosystem
  • Provide support to other HBPO teams engaged in EV modules
  • Support technology evaluation for acquisition support, technology landscaping, design consultation, and opportunity evaluation
  • Articulate to a broad range of constituents through written and verbal communication
  • Research and report comprehensive technical findings on topics of strategic and tactical importance to the Company
  • Assist with the projects as assigned
  • Must have the ability to travel as needed to support customer/ supplier visits
  • Interface with suppliers on electrical components and subassemblies to meet price, performance, and time constraints
  • Help develop the right supply base for the targeted products
  • Manage and coordinate multiple projects that run simultaneously. Must be capable of working independently and in a team environment and effectively communicate with Department Heads and cross functional colleagues
  • Closely work with different global development centers including the HQ in Germany
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable in developing and interpreting circuit diagrams, Device transmittal protocols as applicable.
  • Understand and comply with Company EHS guidelines

 

Education:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Master’s degree strongly preferred

 

Professional Training/Technical Training:

  • Knowledge of the mechanical design of power electronics
  • Knowledge of CAD tools such as CATIA and/or Unigraphics NX
  • Deep technical knowledge of Electric Vehicles systems and subsystems including designs, modelling and simulation, materials, chemistries, and electronics

 

Related Experience/Specialized Knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 years of power electronics industry experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in automotive electronics
  • Previous OEM and automotive experience
  • Expertise and experience working on electric vehicle architectures and systems such as battery charging systems and battery management, energy recovery, battery thermal management, fast charging, inductive charging and electronics.
  • Manage and develop systems or subsystems using sensors, magnets, indicator lights, linkages and actuators.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CAN, LIN, and Ethernet protocols. Programing and understanding of actuators and electronic controllers.
  • Knowledge of illumination solutions for indicators or ambient lighting.
  • Engineering knowledge of defined requirements and validation of components and system design, function, performance, production and manufacturing requirements, testing, and validation.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements.

 

Additional Skills:

  • Good knowledge in Matlab/Simulink as well as DOORS, knowledge in handling simple diagnostic tools
  • Strong experience in the field of battery development (Li-ion cell modules, HV batteries, battery management systems and power electronics)
  • Familiarity with DFMEA processes
  • Knowledgeable of new and emerging research/technology in the subject area
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize issues and make intelligent, timely decisions independently or in coordination with other cross-functional teams
